We produce a wonderful range of natural, undyed knitting yarn and knitting kits, available online or directly from the croft.
The rugged terrain around Sanna is deceptively fragile and has suffered in the past from overgrazing. When we took on the croft we thought long and hard about keeping sheep and concluded we would only keep breeds that are light, selective grazers, and that we would respect these amazing animals by valuing everything they produce, especially their wool.
Our flock of pedigree Shetland sheep are ‘clipped’ by us on the croft, with the fleece sorted into colours and sent to The Natural Fibre Company for processing and blending. The resulting yarn is beautifully soft and comes in a range of natural colours, just as it would have done when crofters did these tasks by their own fireside.
